Ivy weaving workshop

In this workshop, you'll learn how to work with English ivy (Hedera helix) as an art material.

English ivy is a plant with invasive capacities and has the potential to take over large areas of disturbed soil. Even where it grows natively it has to be managed or else it will take down nearly anything in its path. In North America, this plant is still sold in nurseries and marketed in landscaping as a low maintenance decorative plant.

Despite its audacity, it is a wonderful plant for creating with- to honour it after removing it, and to learn its medicine in energetic ways- abundance, new beginnings, resiliency, and never giving up. The way of working with this plant can be translated to many others, and working with this invasive can deepen your connection with nature in mindful and creative ways!

Let this workshop be a catalyst to beginning your own nature connected art practice.

This workshop was featured in the 2024 Canadian Herb Conference, and aspects of this workshop have been taught live to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
