Hello, I'm Kaitlyn
I am an interdisciplinary artist, reiki practitioner, and herbalist. My art practice is interwoven between these modalities and is based in mindfulness that fosters a deeply rooted connection to nature. My work plays on the ephemeral and is created in a flow state.
I live, work, and play on the unceded land of the Coast Salish First Nations and extend much gratitude and respect to the land and the peoples who have lived here for time immemorial.
Education
How I Started
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts with a minor in Social Practice and Community Engagement from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and have a background in social services. I’ve always been drawn to cultivating strong community connections and strive to do so creatively using the skills I developed while working in social services.
For herbal medicine, I have learned from many teachers, including: Juliet Blankenspoor from Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, Asia Suler, Diana Munday, Marie Zak and Travis Cartwright, Patrick Kooyman, and Arielle de Martinez. I consider myself a lifelong student to this practice, and am always learning and refining. I have found that my studies in herbal medicine informs my art practice.
I am a reiki master practitioner and take this work as incredibly sacred. I am attuned to Holy Fire & Usui reiki. I received my first attunement in 2020 with Carrie Ann Bailey, my second level in 2021, and masters level in 2023 - both with Myorei Zeraffa. I have also studied other energy healing modalities with numerous other respected teachers in this field, including Stevie Shayler, and Kimberly Morrow.
Artistic Process
like nature itself, my work is ever-evolving
The mediums I use depends on the intentions I have. Working in nature connected ways, my aim is to inspire others to connect deeper with nature in their own ways, be it through a creative process or simply by sitting with nature and paying attention to the nuances of the life that surrounds them.
My art practice has a unique combination of foraged and artist grade materials. My work is often experimental, and not always intended to be archival- it may change as it ages.
I work in a variety of approaches, ranging from community engaged processes, painting, drawing, murals, sculpture, fiber arts, illustration, photography, and printmaking.
Like nature itself, my work is ever-evolving.

I took one of Kaitlyn’s workshops for learning how to make art with nature and loved it. I don’t consider myself an artist, and felt a bit nervous coming in to it, but she helped me feel at ease and I ended up making a very interesting piece of art!

I use Feng Shui in my home and brought a few artworks by Kaitlyn into it. Her art helped bring more of a sense of balance into my home.
